Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of visiting Nick Gentry, a mixed-media artist blending traditional portraiture with obsolete technology to open up conversations around identity, memory, and the evolving role of technology.

From AI to the environment, and the personal shift in his art since becoming a father, we spoke to Nick about his fascinating process and distinctive approach to materials.

Blending traditional techniques with contemporary themes Srabani Ghosh’s multifaceted practice explores memory, human stories, and cultural heritage. Working with clay, wood, ink, and textiles she creates works that reimagine the story of life.

“Despite the changing context of the times we live in, the phenomenon of being human remains largely unchanged. As an artist I am a reader and recorder of people. Through broad themes, I excavate the inner state of being human, transforming whimsical and imaginative ideas into physical-visual forms that reveal what lies beneath the surface.”

We recently visited Srabani in her studio to learn more about her creative outlook and to see her diverse practice in action.

Our CEO .mccrae speaks with in the latest issue of ’s magazine The View about how the role of art is evolving in hospitality and retail – and what happens “when art escapes its traditional bounds.”

For some, it’s about aesthetics. For others, it’s about brand alignment and storytelling. For most of our hotel, restaurant, and retail clients, it falls somewhere in between. Together, we support an emerging generation of artists by providing the space and opportunity to share their work with the world.

Ilyas Kassam is an Indian Ismaili artist and poet. Drawing from Ismaili, Kufic, and Japanese calligraphic traditions, his works centres around the notion of infinity and the role language plays within the mystical experience.

“Most of my paintings begin with me lying on the canvas. Following a meditation, I start a movement practice that begins with creating folds and indentations in the canvas, progressing to the use of mark making tools to translate the movements of the body into more scriptural markings”

We recently had the pleasure of visiting Ilyas’s studio to participate in his artistic rituals and learn more about his spiritual approach to making.

Nicholas Pryke and Claire Elliot are the duo behind The Pump House, with whom Artiq is partnering for the second year to host The Pump House Residency.

Originally built over 160 years ago to drain water from The Mother Drain into The River Idle, Nic and Claire have lovingly transformed the Grade II listed former pump house into a contemporary art studio and holiday let. With extensive careers in furniture design and commercial interiors, as well as being practising artists, they are deeply committed to supporting emerging talent.

By generously offering one of our artists a week-long stay at , Nic and Claire have helped alleviate the financial challenges that artists often face when searching for inspiring workspaces.

In discussing this year’s winner, they said: “We are very excited that Valerie Kuzina has been selected for this year’s The Pump House Residency. We hope she will be inspired by this voluminous building, its light, and its natural setting.”

A huge thank you to Nic and Claire for helping us support the next generation of creatives. We can’t wait to see what creates during her stay!
