Ben Uri Gallery & Museum Benuri.org - is the first full scale virtual Gallery/Museum and Research Centre addressing the universal issues of identity and migration through art.

It includes 80 exhibitions, 150 films, 125 podcasts, 1000 artworks and much more. Ben Uri Gallery and Museum, engaging as benuri.org, is the first full scale virtual museum and research centre. Conceived in 2018 and published within the 2019 Sustainability and Public Benefit Strategic Plan benuri.org was ‘soft’ launched in September 2020. The future is digital - our future is benuri.org

Ben Uri Art Gallery and Museum is hosting our Annual Charity Art Sale starting September 17th.

Find your new artwork from some 100 examples including many by Josef Herman, Clara Klinghoffer, Sven Berlin, Mario Dubsky and Georges Rouault. These pieces will be selling at charity prices regularly well below commercial gallery prices for the benefit of our Ben Uri Research Unit recording the important and wide refugee and immigrant contribution to British art since 1900.

Eugene Palmer was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1955, moving to Birmingham, England in 1966 to reunite with his parents, who had moved there in search of better job opportunities. Palmer is best known for his portraits of the Black community, especially women, addressing issues of race, identity, cultural history and representation.

His journey reflects endurance, aspiration and resilience.

Disruptors: Fractured Images and Migrant Wordl

It's the last week to come see our collaborative exhibition bringing together works from the Ben Uri Gallery & Museum and William Allen Word & Image collections, plus additional works from artists and private lenders.

It traces over a century of word-image experimentation, from early twentieth-century avant-garde practice to post-war concrete poetry and conceptual art, exploring how artists disrupt the boundary between reading and viewing while addressing themes of migration, exile, belonging, identity, and meaning-making.

In Woman Seated at a Table (c. 1934), made shortly after his arrival to the UK from Germany, Alfred Lomnitz shows a vivid interplay between printed material, the page of the ‘Evening Standard’, paint and collage, continuing the avant-garde practices in which everyday fragments like newspapers are drawn into the picture.
