Béton Brut is a modernist furniture and lighting store in East London, curated by furniture dealer Sophie Pearce. It sells architect-led design from the last century and all pieces are available for purchase or hire.

'Béton Brut' was a concrete finish used in modernist architecture. Shop and gallery space now open at Unit 2, 30 Felstead St, London E9 5LG. Open weekdays by appointment, and Saturdays 12-5 during exhibitions.

We had the pleasure of hosting ’s February gathering centred around the theme of ‘Sleep’.

For the event, the gallery featured a collection of surreal wrought iron headboards by Salvino Marsura. Paired with playful, plush vintage works, the space was thoughtfully composed to evoke a sense of reverie.

The evening begun with poems by literary and sound artist .moyo, and was rounded out with melatonin-rich canapés designed by .

A three-seater Club sofa by Jean-Michel Frank & Adolphe Chanaux.

This piece was designed in 1930 and produced in the 1980s by Ecart International.The french designers were early adopters of modernist principles as evidenced in the clean rationalist lines and bold form of this piece.

This handmade coffee table and table lamp are part of ’s inaugural furniture and lighting collection, ‘Paper’.

The collection, designed exclusively with Béton Brut, is informed by French craft traditions of decoupage and the Japanese Mingei movement.

Evoking Deco and Classical, the works’ geometries contain harmony in ratio.
