The Old Bakehouse Café has now closed in its current form and will NOT be open Fridays & Saturdays.
In 2025 we are going to focus on various events throughout the year, ranging from Sewing workshops which have already been running regularly each month, together with various exhibitions and other classes. Please keep checking the website for more details of our programme of events.
Aberlady Craft Group will continue to regularly meet in the Gallery and will be looking forward to celebrating their 27th year in 2025.
A little bit of history - Our family have been in this building since 1974 when it was then known as The Quill Gallery. We had a craft shop and gallery which exhibited and sold many local artists’ work from pottery, cards, wooden furniture and artists materials. We also hosted the only Scottish venue for the Society of Designer Craftsmen in London in 1978 as a member of the family was awarded a fellowship of the society. We also held a large craft fair in 1978 which included, spinners, weavers, enamellers, potters, demonstrations of pressed flower card making, and calligraphy.
In November 2005 we then changed to a Textile Gallery called Sew in Stitches where we exhibited and sold textile art supplies, fabrics and local crafts. During this time, we also held textile art exhibitions from groups around the country.
In 2010 we held a large history exhibition of the village which was very popular.
We added The Old Bakehouse Tearoom in 2016 and subsequently opened The Bakehouse Gallery and workshop area in October 2022.
We have been holding workshops, and classes in the Gallery, and we will continue to add to these in the coming year.
The tearoom will be open during exhibitions and craft events and will be advertised in plenty of time, ready for you to add to your diaries!
Thank you for your support over the years, and we look forward to seeing you at these future events.
