Now summer is coming to an end, it can only mean one thing… it’s time to begin this year’s Remembrance Ball charity auction piece. ❤️

This year I’m going right back to original artwork but I’m bringing together so many of the techniques I’ve explored and developed throughout the year.

Greyscale. Gold. Texture. Raised 3D elements. And, of course, those unmistakable red poppies.

I’ve already started building the texture into the canvas, with raised poppy petals and a textured halo ready for gold leaf.

There’s still a long way to go, but I’m really excited about this one.

Every year I want my auction donation to feel special, but this year I’m aiming for a genuine showstopper ,something powerful, respectful and completely one of a kind.

I’ll share the journey as it develops… but for now, here’s the very beginning. ❤️🌺

👽 Busy morning in the studio…
apparently I had a group consultation booked.

These guys have dropped in to discuss an all-out Samantha Woodward Art makeover. 🎨

They've requested subtle and understated.
Unfortunately, they've come to the wrong artist. 😂

I'm thinking paint, attitude, a little chaos and absolutely NO REGRETS.

I have some seriously exciting plans for this lot… but I'm not giving everything away just yet. 👀

🎉 700!! WE DID IT! 🎉

Thank you so much to everyone who followed, shared, invited friends and helped push The Corner of Creations over the 700 follower mark ❤️

It might just look like a number, but for a small independent artist every new person following along genuinely means a lot.

I’ve got so much planned, so many slightly bonkers ideas still to paint, and lots more behind-the-scenes studio chaos to share 😂🎨

From glamour to horror in just a few hours… ✨🔪🖤

And this is exactly why I love what I do!

One minute I’m individually placing thousands of sparkling rhinestones and working on flowers, shimmer and all things glamorous… the next I’m surrounded by black paint, gold leaf and bringing Scream to life. 😂

There really are no rules in my studio and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love the variety, the creativity and never quite knowing what I’ll be working on from one day to the next.

Glamour, colour, sparkle, horror… apparently I need them all! 😂

Dave is getting there! 😂
I'm finally down to all those little finishing details now — and I have to say, I'm getting rather attached to this grumpy little fella.

Sardines are open.
Catnip has been raided.
The mice appear to have moved in.
And Dave clearly has absolutely NO REGRETS.

This is the first time I've created and painted my own original character, and I've already got far too many ideas about where Dave could go next. 😈🎄🎸
So I want to know...

I’ve just realised there are now 694 of you following my little corner of colourful chaos! ❤️

For anyone new here hi, I’m Samantha 👋 I paint anything that grabs my imagination… music legends, attitude, pop culture, ridiculous ideas, things with a story behind them and occasionally something that makes me wonder what on earth I was thinking 😂

The Corner of Creations has become my studio, gallery and the place where all of those ideas come to life.

I’m now just 6 followers away from 700, so I’m asking for a tiny favour…

WIP — MEET DAVE! 🐾

Well… I think it’s finally time I introduced you to someone who has been living in my head for quite a while.

This is Dave.

Dave isn't a commission, a celebrity or an existing character. He's mine. ❤️

He's scruffy, slightly inappropriate, completely comfortable in his own skin and really doesn't care what anybody thinks.

Sardines ✔️
Catnip ✔️
A couple of questionable friends ✔️
Absolutely no shame ✔️
And of course…
IT'S A DAVE THING.

There's still a long way to go with this first painting, but I'm already falling a little bit in love with him.

This is the beginning of Dave's story —and if all goes to plan, you're going to be seeing quite a lot more of him.

Now that Dobby is finished, it’s time for a project that is incredibly important to me.
Dave Cat. 🐈‍⬛

I first designed Dave almost two years ago. He’s been sitting there ever since, waiting… mainly because I’ve been too nervous to actually start painting him!

But I think I’m finally ready. ❤️

Dave isn’t just one painting. He has a story to tell, a slightly questionable attitude, some VERY colourful friends and, hopefully, a whole world of his own.

And this is where it all begins.
The stencil is printed.
The canvas is ready.
And after nearly two years…
Dave is finally coming to life. 🎨

I have absolutely no idea where this little character is going to take me — and that's probably the most exciting part.

DOBBY IS A FREE ELF! ⚡️🧦

After sitting patiently in my WIP pile for TWO YEARS, Dobby is officially on his way to being completed!

But somewhere along the way, things took a bit of a turn… 😂

The sweet little house elf has had a full NO REGRETS makeover sunglasses, tattoos, attitude and all.

NO MASTER. NO REGRETS.

Just a few finishing details to go and this rebellious little elf is finally FREE! 🖤
