Damage from a shell burst still visible on the top floor of Wellesley House, Wellington Esplanade.

One hundred and ten years ago today a German battle cruiser squadron fired on Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, resulting in four people killed in Lowestoft, some two hundred houses wrecked, and the British submarine E22 sunk by the German u boat UB18.

Fiammetta Wilson FRAS (born Helen Frances Worthington; 19 July 1864 – 21 July 1920), who was a British astronomer elected a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.

Born in Lowestoft she was sister to Richard Till Worthington the surgeon who lived in Wellesley House during the first world war.
