I had fun creating this speculative silicon-based life forms. To help me, I create a model out of plastilin and crystals. In case anyone wants these creatures as pets, not possible as they require extreme heat and likes radioactive dust for snacks ;-).
Description:
Silicon-based life — an imagined alternative biology.
On early worlds very different from our own, chemistry may have followed another path. Instead of carbon forming the backbone of life, silicon might have taken its place — building crystalline frameworks, translucent tissues and mineral-like forms that grow by structured chemical accretion rather than conventional cellular division.
This image explores how such organisms might appear: refracting light through faceted surfaces as they organise themselves from silicate compounds within their environment. Not fantasy, but a visual speculation grounded in real chemistry — a reminder that life elsewhere may arise from principles very different from those that shaped life on Earth.
