Maldon Museum in the Park

Maldon Museum in the Park Maldon Museum in the Park is a volunteer run organisation which tells the stories of the people, places and events of Maldon and the local area.

Open every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Easter until the end of October. The Maldon Museum in the Park is a registered charity (no. 1185595) and independant local heritage museum focusing on Maldon's social history and is run completely by unpaid volunteers.

November Object of the Month: This tablecloth was made by Esther Palmer. During the 1920s, Esther was the manager of Volta's 'bottom shop' cafe, one of the establishments owned by the Volta family that were popular for their Italian ice creams. The cafe was situated almost directly opposite where the museum is now.

Object of the month: Don't worry, Maldon isn't spelt wrong! This book from 1899 is actually referring to Malden Massachusetts. Rev. Isaac Seymour of All Saints Church visited the American townin 1924 and received this book as a gift. This was followed by Malden, MA gifting the stained glass Washington window to All Saints Church in 1928.

Meet the Team
I am the museum manager. Like everyone else at the museum I am a volunteer. I started volunteering when I retired. I organise the volunteer rota and try to keep everything running smoothly. It is very satisfying when visitors make positive comments. I like the feeling that I am giving back to the community. If you can spare a few hours a month to volunteer, we'd love to hear from you.
