We are making the finishing touches to our new display Deconstructing Dress: 200 Years of Slow Fashion…✨

From Victorian needlework to make do and mend, and the revival of homemade clothes, this display will explore slow fashion through the ages. The life cycles of key garments within the Museum of Fashion Malvern’s collection dating back to the 1840’s will be showcased, demonstrating visible mending, patchwork and upcycling.

The display will also feature exciting loans from Malvern Green Space and a Central Saint Martins fashion design student.

Open Fridays and Saturdays 10-4 from 23rd October 2026.

WORKSHOP: Halloween decorations👻🎃

Wendy will take you through a number of crafting techniques to make ghosts, skeletons or pumpkins ready to decorate for Halloween!

During this 2 hour session Wendy will take you through some classic techniques to make your own Halloween decorations.

No expeirnce required. Children welcome with a guardian!

DECONSTRUCTING DRESS: 200 YEARS OF SLOW FASHION

From Victorian needlework to make do and mend, and the revival of homemade clothes, this display will explore slow fashion through the ages. With the rise of fast fashion, and growing conversations about sustainable style, this
exhibition is a counter to throw-away fashion.

We are excited to announce this new display which will open on Saturday 23rd October.

Open Fridays and Saturdays 10-4.

CALL OUT FOR VOLUNTEERS

We are currently looking for volunteers at the Museum of Fashion Malvern✨

The role will primarily be front of house, giving a friendly welcome to visitors, invigilating the gallery and serving in our shop.

There will also be the opportunity to get involved in other areas of the museum, for example an upcoming cataloguing project, working hands on with the collection.

If you are passionate about fashion and textiles or local history we’d love to hear from you!

The museum is open 10 - 4 Fridays and Saturdays.

We would ideally ask that you are available for a minimum of 3 hours per shift, for example 10am - 1pm or 1pm - 4pm, but we can be flexible.

Are you interested in the hidden histories of pockets and fascinating stories of local women?

To learn more come to our next talk: A Collection of Pockets✨

This talk revolves around a series of handmade pockets created for an exhibition held in March 2025 with Elmslie Embroiderers and the stories of Worcestshire women.

A few words from the speaker:
“I was deeply moved by a podcast that I had listened to from the Foundling Hospital in London called ‘Take this Token ‘, where the importance of tie-on pockets to women was discussed.

I then went on to create several pockets, but I then decided to hone this idea to create a series of pockets based on women who had links to Worcestershire. Each pocket has been created to reflect an aspect of the life of the chosen women and to tell their story.”

The talk begins with an introduction to what a tie-on pocket is, how they were worn and how they are so significant to women.

The audience will also have the chance to see and touch some pockets up close.

English Paper Piecing workshop✨

During this session Wendy will take you through the art of English paper piecing and how to decorate a tote bag with your design.

English paper piecing is a traditional hand-sewing technique where fabric is wrapped and temporarily basted around paper templates before being hand-stitched together to create precise patchwork designs often in geometric shapes.

During this session each person will come away with their own decorated tote bag featiring their own designs made from english paper piecing.

No experince needed.

All material provided.

£10 per ticket

It’s been a busy summer here at the Museum of Fashion Malvern!

Here’s a quick round up…

⭐️We held our summer talk series, welcoming some wonderful speakers to the museum

⭐️Two vintage and craft markets, with some lovely new stall holders

⭐️Lots of workshops teaching participants new skills from drop spindle to braiding and bead art

⭐️Romancing the 18th Century: Rococo to Stage - our current display in collaboration with Malvern Theatre Players

⭐️Some very special new donations which we are excited to share, expanding the dates our collection covers all the way back to the regency period

There is lots planned for Autumn, with new displays and events over the coming months 🍂
