This week, we are delighted to welcome Coventry-based artist ANDI (she/her) as she begins her residency in our Artists’ Studio.

ANDI creates highly detailed figurative paintings that reflect on q***r and trans experiences and involve models from the trans community. Over the next twelve weeks, she will develop a new body of work here at the Gallery, working at a larger scale and pushing her practice into new territory.

The residency also involves a year-long programme of creative coaching led by Ceri Hand — an international Arts and Business coach who supports extraordinary creatives around the world.

We are grateful to Birmingham-based collector Clive Beardsmore for his generous support of this award.

Thank you to everyone who’s sent over emails, messages and comments in relation to my last post.

I’m really sorry if I haven’t responded to each one individually, after making the post I kinda got overwhelmed again. It’s like a fresh wave of grief washing over me and it’s taken me most of the week to get myself back to normal.

I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s believed in what we do, to those who’ve been with us since 2017 and to those we’ve only just met. Each and every one of you has an amazing talent-we’ve enjoyed being a footnote in your creative journeys and seeing how you’ve all grown into amazing artists over the years.

A few people have asked what’s next? I’m (Bex) taking a brief hiatus from art events to focus on my personal life but Alan is still actively making and exhibiting so please give him a follow to see where his creative journey will go next

After 8 amazing years, it’s time for us to say goodbye. 💛

AIR Gallery has been a labour of love since 2017 — a space for artists, run by artists, built on the belief that creativity should be accessible to everyone.

We’ve supported over 1,000 artists through exhibitions, pop-ups, and opportunities, and we’re so proud of the community that’s grown around this project.

To everyone who’s exhibited, followed, visited, volunteered, or simply believed in what we do — thank you. You’ve made AIR what it is.

As we wind things down at the end of this year, I just want to say how grateful I am for every moment, every show, and every artist who trusted us with their work. The legacy of AIR lives on in all of you.
