Anthony Ratcliffe MAFA is a professional printmaker and retired senior lecturer at Manchester School of Art. His work is based around an exploration of British landscape.

We have a selection or woodcuts on the website. The three latest arrivals are shown here; November, P**e Hill and West Nab.

Anthony says:
My latest print 'November' has been made for the MAFA 'Artful Remembrance' exhibition at Stockport Gallery in September, it is an image of a world war two aircraft wreck on Bleaklow with a Hen Harrier added for poetic composition.

The other latest coloured prints -West Nab and P**e Hill are of local Pennine areas near my home. I am currently working for an exhibition at Dean Clough in 2028 which will have a strong Yorkshire/ Pennine connection.

Alongside this work I have started to build a collection of black and white woodcuts of birds, this started with requests for Postcard sized prints from a variety of charities and includes the 'Wren' prints I made for the 10x10 Saul Hay exhibition. I have also framed a series of watercolour studies created before making the larger woodcuts.

The standard practice for my printmaking starts with sketchbook drawings, Watercolour studies and small compositional plans which are squared up into the large images on woodblocks.

Neil Wood is a renowned sculptor originally from the North East of England. Neil makes metal sculpture, in bronze, steel, and stainless steel, in his studio and workshop in Stafford.

The works are usually abstract or semi abstract figures. For Neil process is the central aspect of his practice. He carries out all parts of the process himself including the casting of the bronze.

This extraordinarily beautiful painting is the latest work from gallery artist Steven Heaton.

The Voice of Inward Necessity.

Oil on birch cradled panel with inlaid antique papers in original 1920's Montparnasse frame purchased from Paris (French chateau clearance).
80x70cm

DM for enquiries.

Steven explains:
"The "voice of inward necessity" is a core idea from Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung. It is the inner drive to become your true self. It is a deep, quiet urge that tells you what you must do, even if it goes against what society or your family wants."
