Marazion Museum Official page of Marazion Museum The back section of the complex was once the town gaol, and a typical cell has been reconstructed there.

Marazion’s town museum is housed on the ground floor of the Town Hall in what was once the Marazion & District Fire Brigade’s headquarters. In the late 19th Century, Marazion lost its municipal status. With remarkable foresight, a Town Trust was set up to preserve the town regalia and other artefacts, including documents and manuscripts. This continuity of record means that the Town Museum now off

ers a fascinating exhibition about historic Marazion to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. We also house a unique exhibition devoted to the HMS Warspite, a Queen Elizabeth-class battleship. She served in both world wars, earning the most battle honours ever awarded to an individual ship in the Royal Navy, including the most awarded for actions in the Second World War.

This photo was part of a recent donation to the museum - it shows a peaceful corner of Marazion, but we wonder how many of you know where this was and what building?

Thank you Charlotte.

2025 July photo of the month.
Continuing our 'wrought iron' theme from last month, this photo looking down Turnpike Hill includes a glimpse on the left of the old iron gates to Eastcliff House - quite an intricate design it seems - we wonder if they were installed during the time that Richard Rooke Michell lived there. Also down the hill on the right you can see that the cottage Henanoweth still had a thatched roof.

A Near Marazion Walk
Stepping out: A literal Baywatch
OS Landranger map 203 - Land's End, Grid reference 540293, Distance - just under 2 miles
THIS week's walk is a short one, along an easy stretch of the coastal path - yes, easy, in fact level, writes Sandra Goodswen.
The walk starts from Perranuthnoe, an attractive stone village to the south of the A394 Marazion to Helston Road.
Turn off the main road and follow the winding lane right through the village to a car park with toilets not far from the beach.
Follow the lane a few more yards to the coast path signpost on the right. A stile leads to a path which hugs the left-hand side of fields, close above the soft sandy cliffs, with a steep bracken-covered slope just inland. There is a good view across Mount's Bay to the west, and behind is Perran Beach and the rocky headland of Cudden Point.
_ Cross a low rough stile on to the open area of Maen-du Point, where there are some seats. As you round the point St Michael's Mount suddenly appears ahead. Offshore is the rocky islet of The Greeb, and ahead a secret rocky cove. Then it is back to fields, with the sea hidden for a way by tamarisk bushes.
Basore Point is low, and Boat Cove shingly, with boats and a fishing hut.
Inland what looks like a disused quarry is the remains of an old mine. The coast path turns inland to avoid some houses, and meets a track. Turn left and follow it, back to the sea at Trenow Cove. Go past more seats, then bear right up on to the low cliffs again.
There are more mining remains along here, and a rocky hillside ahead where the coast path drops to a wooden stile. Turn right just before this, up the side of the field, continuing on a rough track at the top. This becomes quite steep, and bends left and then right, easing off before reaching a junction. Look left for a final view of Marazion, St Michael's Mount and across to Penzance before turning for home along the track to the right.
Now high above the sea, there is a bird's eye view of Trenow Cove and The Greeb, and Perranuthnoe church tower can be seen ahead. At a gate a much narrower path continues, then it is down a long i narrow field towards a house.
Cross a drive and a track, through kissing gates, and follow a clear path across a field. In the scrub ahead there is a stile, then the path continues into a rough over-grown field and climbs steeply.
Once into the next field it is level again, now on top of the mine workings seen earlier. A stone stile leads into a final field with a mine shaft in the field to the left.
Turn left through the hedge at the waymarker, up steps onto a track. Turn right, cross a junction and continue past a house, then shortly turn right down a path to-wards the church. A drive leads beside the churchyard, at the lane turn right and pass the church itself.
After 50 yards, at the junction opposite the church, turn left and go down through the village to the road. Turn right, past the Lynnfield Craft Centre and Studios, back to the car park.
