Last week we hosted our Young Artists for a May Half Term workshop. joined us in the morning to lead the first half of the day, where she had the artists making tall ice cream creations.

All young artists get a free ice cream at the end of our school holiday workshops, a sweet treat to round off a day of creativity.

Our summer holiday young artists dates are live on our website now, so book your child on for a summer activity to look forward to 🍦🎨

Our third Film Club is this Tuesday, where we’ll be discussing Steven Soderbergh’s new film ‘The Christophers’.

Ian McKellen’s Julian is a retired artist, forced to film videos for fans to make his money and neglecting a series of unfinished pieces. So, when his two avaricious children hire an art forger, played by Micaela Coel, the film lets two artists discuss the world of creativity and forces Julian to decide what his legacy will be, and ultimately what will become of The Christophers.

The film is showing daily between now and Tuesday at the Phoenix Cinema in Leicester and at the Northampton Filmhouse.
Plus, we’ll be deciding the film for next week’s film club.

We regularly have people join us in the Studios before or after looking for the canal kingfisher. A couple of kingfishers have been spotted along the canal over the past year, and we are so thrilled to have a photograph of the little guy captured by .foto in the gallery.

The size of the piece means that the Kingfisher is actual size. This piece is for sale at the studios. When you’re next out looking for the kingfisher, why not come and say hello to ours too.

There are just a handful of places left on our May Half Term Young Artists Workshop.

In this workshop (open for 9-14 year olds) young artists in attendance will be working with Great British Bake Off winner Frances Quinn in the morning and with our resident artist in the afternoon.

We have another workshop with just around the corner.

In this creative workshop, biscuits become miniature edible canvases. Great British Bake Off winner Frances Quinn will show you how to decorate biscuits by painting directly with brewed tea and coffee, using the natural tones just like traditional stain painting.

You’ll also explore decorating biscuits with melted chocolate, creating patterns, illustrations and playful edible designs. Blending baking with art and creativity, this session is perfect for anyone who loves experimenting with food and design. Guests will decorate biscuits to take home and leave with inspiration for turning simple bakes into beautiful edible artworks. These workshops combine baking, design and playful creativity, reflecting Frances’ unique approach to food as both something to eat and something to create with.

All equipment and materials are included.
