Morale Patch, Tanoa Sasraku.

"What is my relationship to power?"

Morale Patch brings together works on paper, found objects and sculpture, including a large-scale installation featuring crude oil encased in paperweights. Through these materials, Sasraku examines the relationship between oil, national identity, geopolitics and global systems of power.

👻 Spooky Family Art Trolley is on this half term!

Join us from 27–30 October, 11:00–13:00 for FREE Halloween themed creative fun at MIMA. Drop in and get making with hands-on activities for young makers.

As an extra treat, every child who takes part can enjoy a picnic offer for £1 from MIMA Kitchen.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Can't make it during half term? Our regular MIMA Art Trolley also runs every Saturday from 11:00–15:00.

Join Tees Zine Works for a ‘green’ zine making workshop, inspired by and using elements of poetry and photography collected during three community ‘walkshops’ along the Tees to Topping.

15 November, 12:30 - 15:30 at MIMA. Free.

The zines from the day will be brought together into a final publication which will be displayed at Ormesby Hall National Trust, Crook Hall National Trust and MIMA.
During the session, participants will also have the chance to view the Turner Prize exhibition at MIMA.

Materials and lunch/refreshements are provided. This event is part of the Teesside University, Durham University and the National Trust Being Human Festival 2026 Hub Programme.

Unspeak the Chorus, Kira Freije.

“It can feel like we're living in a time of both excess silence and excess speech... Personal grief, and grief on a global scale, necessitate a kind of stopping... In making this exhibition I try to find a language for this, trusting in something unspeakable.”

Freije works with metal, fabric, light and found materials to create sculptural figures that reflect both individual and shared emotional experiences. Creating casts from the faces of people within her life, and her own hands and feet, the figures are built from welded steel structures and are poised to create impressions of scenes, connections or encounters.

We had an inspiring Friday at MIMA as we welcomed our very first school group to Turner Prize 2026!

Year 4 students from Brambles Primary Academy brought incredible curiosity and creativity to hands-on workshops inspired by the artists and artworks on display.

We can’t wait to welcome more young minds to explore, create, and be inspired at MIMA.
