English Folk Costume Archive

English Folk Costume Archive The English Folk Costume Archive is a collection of textile objects associated with English folk heritage.

The English Folk Costume Archive is a private archive of textile artifacts which related to English folk heritage. The archive is small, currently consisting of around 90 individual items including handkerchiefs, morris bells, jackets, skirts and aprons. The archive has aspirations to grow and welcomes contact from anyone who would wish to donate relevant items. In the future it is hoped that the

archive will set up temporary displays across the country. The items are stored in a domestic setting, and visiting is welcomed by appointment. The archive is curated by Chloe Elizabeth Middleton-Metcalfe who trained as a costume maker and has had experience working at Northampton Museum and Bath Fashion Museum. She has also undergone a number of day courses on textile preservation at the Victoria and Albert Museum. She is widely recognised for her research on English folk dance costume and is currently completing her doctorate at Roehampton University on Folk Dance.
