Courtyard Framing

Courtyard Framing Simply put, it's our job to find the right frame for you Simply put, it is our job to find the right frame for you. Framing doesn’t stop with pictures.

With every framing project, we will ask about the room/interior where your picture will live. We take time to advise you of all the options available so you don’t always end up with a frame and single mount. The possibilities are endless, so we use our experience to ensure you get the best frame for you, transforming your picture into something really special. We have one of the largest ranges of

frames and framing materials available in the area, and the VERY best frames available in the UK including hand finished mouldings. All the materials and mount boards which we use are of the best quality. Our mount boards have a 30 year guarantee against yellowing.Framing doesn’t have to be expensive. A bespoke frame can start from as little as £15 and a basic moulding of approximately 14″ x 20″ can start from as little as £22. This will fit your item exactly and will have the correct balance of frame to picture. Will has trained extensively in the craft of frame making and was awarded Commended Framer by the Fine Art Trade Guild. We can offer full conservation framing with Museum grade UV glass and mount boards which are 100% cotton. We can also carry out framing and stretching on delicate works including fully reversible hand lacing. In the past, we have framed: Pictures, Photographs, Shoes/baby shoes, Military memorabilia including medals & belts, 200 year old samplers, Rugby shirts, Football shirts, Golf balls, Cricket balls, Poems and Swimming medals…to name but a few! So, whatever you would like framing, be it memorabilia, something of sentimental value or something as simple as a golf ball then please drop by and speak to us. We look forward to helping you.

We currently have on offer a collection of original watercolours of Minehead painted in the early 1900s by Harry Frier (1849–1921)

Some pieces are showing their age (as you’d expect), so we’d recommend conservation mounting and UV-protective glazing to help preserve them and prevent further fading.

We currently have on offer, a collection of original watercolours of Minehead painted in the early 1900s by Harry Frier (1849–1921)
Some pieces are showing their age (as you’d expect), so we’d recommend conservation mounting and UV-protective glazing to help preserve them and prevent further fading, before adding any of these paintings to your collection

Harry Frier (1849–1921) was a prolific British watercolour painter best known for recording Somerset life and streetscapes in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Born in Edinburgh (the son of painter Robert Frier), he trained in Scotland, passing entrance exams to the Edinburgh School of Art in 1867.
In 1883 he moved to Somerset with his Somerset-born wife, Kate Dyer, and worked largely around Taunton, producing detailed local views and landmarks across the county (including coastal scenes such as Minehead). He earned his living mainly through commissions.

As photography became more common in the early 1900s, demand for his work declined. After Kate died in 1913, Frier’s health worsened; he entered Taunton Workhouse in 1917 and died there in 1921, later buried at Creech St Michael

‘Sett Inn’ by Jonathan Walker is part of a wonderful new collection of miniature works created especially for Churchgate Gallery in Porlock for their Spring Exhibition, and framed by Courtyard

Each charming piece is painted in watercolour and ink on handmade, deckle-edged paper — this one measures just 7.5 x 10cm (and yes, there are even smaller ones!).

Framed with an overall size is 20 x 24cm each is floated to show the decile edge of the paper and glazed with AR70 low-reflection glass to enhance the artwork with minimal glare.

The exhibition is open in Porlock, Monday to Saturday, 10.30am–5.30pm — including over Easter — and the full collection is also available to view online https://churchgategallery.co.uk/product-category/shop/originalpaintings/jonathanwalker
