Montrose Air Station Museum is run entirely by volunteers who keep its amazing history alive. Britain’s first operational military airfield was set up in Montrose by the Royal Flying Corps in 1913. The heritage centre's collection of photographs and artefacts tell the story of RFC/RAF Montrose through the words and deeds of the men and women who served here through two world wars, bringing the air

field alive and sparking the enthusiasm and admiration of generations for whom the First and Second Wars exists only in others’ memories.

Montrose Air Station Museum will be hosting an event to celebrate Armed Forces Day 2026.

As is always the case with our open days this will be free to attend, however any donations we receive will be greatly appreciated.

It's been another fantastic weekend at Montrose Air Station Museum, thank you to all our wonderful visitors for coming along we appreciate your support.

The team are now gearing up for opening again this weekend.

Don't forget, there is no admission fee for children under 16, so why not bring the family along. 😊

Outdoor pitches (3m x 3m) are available—please bring your own gazebo.
Join us for a fantastic community event supporting a great cause!
