The British Horological Institute (BHI) Museum looks after a fascinating collection of clocks, watches and other timepieces. The collection also includes tools, instruments, books, photographs and valuable documents, all brought together by BHI members since its founding in 1858. The Museum Trust was established in 1994 to ensure the long-term future of this unique collection. We are based at Upto

n Hall, in Upton, between Southwell and Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire. You can visit us during one of our special event open days or museum events- see website for details. We also offer guided tours of the museum for group visits (pre-booking is essential).

The Museum of Timekeeping is throwing open its doors, this Sunday, 29th March, to celebrate the annual switch to summer time - and you're invited to be part of the excitement!

Bring the whole family and explore an incredible collection of clocks and watches, each with its own story to tell. From intricate mechanisms to beautifully crafted timepieces, there's something to captivate visitors of all ages.

Meet the passionate Conservation and Maintenance team, discover how these fascinating machines are kept in perfect rhythm, and experience the sights and sounds of countless ticking treasures all around you.

Don't miss the highlight of the event: Doug Bateman's remarkable 'Precision Time Piece' - a true celebration of craftsmanship and ingenuity.

Ever wondered how antique clocks are repaired? Clock Force pulls back the curtain this Sunday 26 October. Watch master clockmakers restore five timepieces live—tools, techniques, and all.

We’ll be repairing clocks for members of the public, and the first five eligible antique clocks through the door will be restored by the Clock Force (T&Cs apply)

We’re proud to include trained horology students on the team—because craftsmanship should be shared, taught, and celebrated by everyone.
