Thinking about becoming a childminder?

Come along to our online information session on Thursday 18 June at 6.30pm to find out what's involved in working as a registered childminder, childminding assistant or nanny (details will be sent to those who express an interest).

The informal session aims to provide you with all the information you need to decide whether childminding is for you. You will be able to meet the trainers who deliver our ‘Preparing to Become a Childminder in West Berkshire’ sessions and ask them any questions you may have.

To register for this information session, please email [email protected] or call 01635 503500

We’re working to improve support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in West Berkshire, and we want to hear from parents and carers.

We’re developing a new SEND Local Reform Plan for the next three years, and families’ views are central to shaping it, including what is working well and what could be improved.

You can share your views at:

📍 In‑person workshop: 7 May, Theale Library, 10.30am–12.30pm
📍 Online reflective sessions hosted by the West Berkshire Parent Carer Forum on Monday 11 May:
▪️Afternoon: 1.00–2.30pm
▪️Evening: 6.30–7.30pm

Your feedback will help shape future SEND support in West Berkshire. Register you interest via the link in the comments.

In our baby group today, we talked about the 'million word gap'. Did you know that if a child shares five books a day with an adult, they will have heard, on average a staggering 1,483,300 words by the time they are 5 years old. For children who are never read to, that number drops to 4662 words. By reading regularly to our babies and young children, we really can make a huge difference to their language and communication skills.

A fun activity for babies aged 6-9 months to help with their development and language learning. This activity helps your baby begin to make connections between words and objects.
