Heritage, Museums & Galleries Studies at Newcastle University UK Heritage, Museums, and Gallery Studies, which forms part of Media, Culture, Heritage (MCH).

Our well established taught postgraduate programmes are vocational, providing students from all over the world with the knowledge, skills and understanding required to work in a variety of roles, from curators, education officers and managers to cultural policy makers. The programmes benefit from our experience in and engagement with the museum, gallery and heritage sector: we work closely with sector professionals both in the delivery of teaching and on research initiatives and on providing advice and consultancy for the sector

HMG has a thriving, high-profile interdisciplinary research community made up of numerous postgraduate research students and experienced academic researchers who are key figures in their fields.

One of our members of staff, Bruce, has been working on a project focused on older volunteers and what happens when, for various reasons, people find it harder to sustain their volunteering. Bruce and his colleage, Yang, ran a national survey of volunteer managers from all volunteer-involving sectors - and you can now read the report here! It's going straight onto our reading lists.

On this page, we'll post outputs from the project and from the pilot project that preceded it. This will include reports & papers as well as links to talks that we've done.
