Gallery North opened its doors in January 2009 as an important contemporary exhibition space with vision and great potential; a public space for the free, disinterested exchange of ideas. Since 2009 the gallery has moved several times and now resides in Sandyford Building at Northumbria University. As well as regularly changing exhibitions, Gallery North hosts artist talks, symposiums and other ev

ents. Gallery North also offers undergraduate and postgraduate Fine Arts students support with their Professional Practice Modules. The Woon Gallery of Asian Art opened in 2018 with the generous support of the Woon Brothers Foundation. This gallery shows historic works of art from across Asia alongside contemporary art pieces. Both galleries are free entry and open throughout the year, please check our website and social media accounts for any updates to opening times.
