THANK YOU TO HODGSON SAYERS
We would like to thank Hodgson Sayers for their support of our Programmes for Young People over the past year.
With their support, we’ve been able to reach over 160,000 children and young people. Including -
⭐ Stephenson Steam Railway's Young Volunteers - providing young people with the opportunity to develop practical skills in heritage preservation and rolling stock restoration, while fostering personal growth through teaching and mentoring from Railway Heritage volunteers. A long-term aim is to encourage these young volunteers into the North Tyneside Steam Railway Association - the volunteer group that supports the maintenance and running of the Heritage Railway at Stephenson Steam Railway.
“I get a great sense of satisfaction from being able to give back and contribute to something that gives so many people – myself included – so much pleasure.” Young Volunteer
⭐ L-INK our art gallery group for 16–24-year-olds in the North East who are passionate about art or interested in creative careers. Each year, 15–20 young people meet monthly to make and discuss art, plan events and exhibitions, and collaborate with professional artists.
“Over the whole year I appreciated how we switched things up and used our own imaginations to create, and how we’ve been able to interpret ourselves.” Member of L-INK group
⭐ Emotional Based School Avoidance (EBSA) - our programme helping young people experiencing negative emotions around school by participating in individual-led and group-led art activities, created to encourage self-expression and creativity outside of mainstream education.
"When you have a child who struggles to attend school, it is hard to know what to do or what to say to make it feel better. It is a helpless feeling.” Parent of young person on the EBSA programme
⭐ Work experience - bringing children and young people into our venues to learn life and work skills, setting them up for brighter futures in the North East.
Thank you Hodgson Sayers!
