This week's latest Ertach Kernow article looks at alternative religion and the rise of modern Celtic paganism. Not perhaps a bad belief given all the strife the Abrahamic religions have and are causing. An increasing number of people are returning to the appreciation of the natural world.

Ertach Kernow articles are first published weekly in the Newquay Voice, St Austell Voice, Truro Voice, The Cornish Times, and The Cornish & Devon Post Series

Cornwall with its numerous churches and chapels was once a place where Christianity was ingrained within the population as seen elsewhere in Britain. Modern Celtic Paganism is now on the rise.

Ertach Kernow tales a look at a tranquil Cornish parish bordering the River Tamar and England. Boyton has much to offer those wanting woodland walks and a peaceful environment. There are historic mills in the area with working waterwheels for those interested in industrial history. Of course there is also the historic parish church to visit.

Sennen is perhaps best known to many people in the line ‘I’ve left childish footsteps in the soft Sennen sand’ as part of the now famous song by Harry Glasson, ‘Cornwall my Home’. The parish of Sennen is also famous for being that which includes Land’s End although many visitors to that most westerly part of mainland Britain may not know that.

Ertach Kernow takes a glance at this far western and wild Cornish parish. Click the link to read the article.

Today on Remembrance Sunday Ertach Kernow remembers the fallen. This through the life of one young man who may have been forgotten even in his home town if his memorial plaque had not been seen and acquired.

Reg Ennor was a young man born and bred in Newquay, popular and with great life expectations ahead of him. Just one of the many who sacrificed their lives for future generations. But Reg hasn't been forgotten and here we remember him and think of all the others who have also perished in war.

The site of Restormel Castle has been used since Roman times. A Roman fort close by and then the castle overlooked the river crossing dominating the highest navigable position of the River Fowey at that time and given the rivers access far into Cornwall.

Acquired by Richard Earl of Cornwall in the 13th century it led to Lostwithiel becoming for a while the chief town of Cornwall.
