📸 Happy National Selfie Day! 📸

Selfies might seem like a modern invention, but did you know there may be a 19th-century version hidden in our Museum's stained glass?

The beautiful stained glass in the chancel was added in 1876 and designed by Exeter's renowned glazier, Frederick Drake.

But here's the intriguing part... 👀

Local rumours suggest that Drake may have hidden his own face within the stained glass he created. If true, it could be his own Victorian-era "selfie" — immortalised in coloured glass rather than captured on a smartphone!

Next time you visit, take a closer look and see if you can spot the mysterious face. Do you think it's Frederick Drake looking back at us across nearly 150 years?

📷 If you find it, snap a selfie of your own and share it with us!

🇺🇦💛 New display in our 'Your Space' Community Case 💙

The Museum has been working with members of the local Ukrainian community who have made Newton Abbot their home over the past four years after fleeing the war in Ukraine. The objects now on display represent more than 100 years of Ukrainian folk culture.

We are delighted to have traditional clothing and dolls on display, alongside painted household objects and artworks depicting celebrations of Christmas and the harvest festival.

🕊️ If you would like to support our Ukrainian community, join us at the Museum on Saturday 27 June for our Ukrainian Charity Day. More information can be found on our website: tinyurl.com/UkrainianCharityDay
