Firstly, we want to thank everyone for their continued support of the Laggan Coffee Bothy.
It’s such a labour of love for us all and we are immensely proud of our whole team who work tirelessly both front of house and behind the scenes to make the cafe a place that you all know and love so much. We’ve had an incredibly busy start to the season and they’ve handled the chaos fantastically.
Unfortunately, you can’t please everyone. While we never usually comment on negative reviews, we feel that on this occasion we must. Earlier today we received a 1 star google review from some customers who visited us today, where they accused one of our young staff members of both behaving “harshly” towards them, along with stating that they “were served like they were beggers on the street” and that their food took over 40 minutes to arrive.
This simply is untrue.
We have cameras inside the coffee bothy, to protect our staff members safety and we have reviewed today’s footage, along with talking to the entire team at length. The young staff member which the review was directed towards is extremely upset at the situation, something that we just can’t have.
The couple arrived prior to lunch service and seemed very agitated from the get go, making our staff members along with the tables around them, including one with a young family feel very uncomfortable. Our staff member advised that lunch was served from 12pm and that due to a very busy morning, the kitchen was being cleaned prior to commencement. They were also advised that there was a couple of tables with orders in before them so there might be a slight wait, as we advise all of our customers. Their hot drinks order was served just after it was placed and their lunch was served at 12.19 - not a horrendous wait time, in our opinion, when everything is freshly made.
When it came to paying the bill, the staff member serving could see that they were still very agitated and so didn’t charge them the full amount for lunch, before apologising again for the slight wait, thanking them and wishing them well on their onward journey. We’re not sure what else she could have done in that situation and are very proud of how she handled herself.
Let’s please remember that we’re all human at the end of the day, just trying our best like everyone else. A little kindness goes a long way. As always, during the busy time, your patience is most appreciated!
