Bro Sergeant Francis Elliott, no 3/8725 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, died of wounds 7th August 1917. Buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery Belgium.

In 1914 he fought at Mons and was awarded the Croix de Guerre for saving the life of a French officer during the Battle of the Somme.

He was a member of Holywood Royal Standard LOL 1906.

Bro Corporal George James Bonner, no 8509, 1st Battalion Rifle Brigade. Died of wounds 15th May 1915. Buried at Le Treport Military Cemetery France.

Before the war he worked as the club steward at the North of Ireland Yacht club at Cultra. He was the drill instructor of the Holywood company of the Ulster Volunteer Force.

He was a member of McCammon's True Blues LOL 1687.

Bro Rifleman Charles Newell, no 18559 13th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles was killed in action on 7th February 1916. He was a member of Newtownards True Blues LOL 1055 and Lord Londonderry's Own Flute Band.

Newtownards Chronicle wrote that 'Mrs E Newell, 54 South Street Newtownards, mother of our gallant young townsman has received the following letter of condolence from the members of Lord Londonderry's Own Flute Band, of which organisation Bandsman Newell was a valuable and respected member: -

41 John Street, Newtownards 21/2/1916

Dear Madam, on behalf of the members of Lord Londonderry's Own Flute Band I have been directed to express to you our heartfelt sympathy with you and your family on the death of your son, Charles. During his connection with the band our relations were of a most friendly nature.

We all join in praying that you may be sustained in your sore hour of trial. Signed on behalf of the band. I Baxter, secretary. '
