A milestone moment at Performing Room!

We were honoured to host Northamptonshire’s 'first-ever gaming networking event' right here at our home at 9 Guildhall Road located in the heart of Northampton's beautiful Cultural Quarter.

The room was buzzing with creativity, collaboration, and innovation as we welcomed the region’s growing gaming community and showcased exciting new developments from the University of Northampton. We also unveiled Performing Room’s own gaming project—a digital recreation of Northampton’s historic town centre, developed as part of our multimedia heritage work originally funded by the The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The turnout exceeded all expectations—thank you to everyone who came, and a special shoutout to Vikaas Mistry, Paddy and all the lecturers from the University of Northampton, and Becky Carrier from Northampton Film festival, our Performing Room volunteers for their help to host this event, our gaming members, and all the members of Northamptonshire's gaming community for coming together to make this historic event unforgettable!

Here’s to building a future where creativity, heritage, and technology come together!

Today we celebrate 5 years since our urgent plea in the Northampton Chronicle and Echo led the resilient and extremely robust Performing Room charity to its wonderful new home at 9 Guildhall Road in the heart of Northampton’s beautiful Culture Quarter.

Five years ago, the Performing Room's beloved former music centre was demolished and turned into flats after a 10-year volunteer-led building campaign which successfully converted a derelict community centre and Social Club covering 2 floors in Northampton’s famous boot and shoe quarter into a vibrant and thriving modern day music and arts well being centre consisting of 8 bespoke fully equipped soundproofed music studios.

With support from our volunteers, we have once again embarked upon another monumental volunteer-led building campaign to make more music studio and rehearsal rooms available in our bew home taking us to 13 out of 17 completed soundproofed fully equipped rooms during this time across four floors including a state of the art ground floor music venue.

Through generous philanthropy and with a robust business plan, we once again have a tremendous opportunity to bring together Northampton’s leading charities and organisations to transform lives by supporting the immediate and long-term needs of the most vulnerable in our community.

Through our programmes and partnerships with festivals, theatres and local business, many (more than 15%) of our participants have found a passion for the arts and go on to work in the creative industry and hospitality sectors, and more than 50% go on to training courses and find employment.

You can read more about what we have achieved and how we have helped to catalyse the post-pandemic recovery for the arts in Northampton on the link to the newly published newspaper article below, plus you can pick up the last remaining available tickets for the groundbreaking feelgood pre-festive music and dance event Performing Room is running with Amazon and Creating Tomorrow Partnership at the Royal & Derngate this Sunday afternoon 24th November from 1.30pm 4.30pm called 'Amazon's Got Music to celevrate this landmark occassion' featuring a selection of wonderful performers 🎶
