Northamptonshire Ironstone Railway Trust is a steam and diesel operated Heritage Railway. https://www.northantsironstonerailway.co.uk/

The Northamptonshire Ironstone Railway Trust is based within the grounds of the Hunsbury Hill Country Park which is located at Hunsbury Hill, Southwest of Northampton. The trust has a small museum, workshop and some gardens with a play area. It features a 1.5 mile long Heritage Railway line that runs through the park. A small section has been approved for public use and we run train rides using a variety of vehicles including a converted brake van. The line is mainly dedicated to freight working, featuring many sharp curves and steep gradients which were typical of the Industrial Railway.

Thanks to everyone who braved the weather to see our Ruston today, which unfortunately had some traction issues so was pull off passenger duty and Charlie our Fowler had to step in.

Next Sunday we have the BR class 02 D2867 working the trains, be sure to pay us a visit if you can.

This coming Sunday for the first of the Heritage Days we will have the Ruston 88 debut on passenger duty (subject to operational issues on the day). Train rides will start at 11am until 4pm. Usual ticket prices apply. Please come along to experience this great locomotive, also enjoy our model railways, the museum and our cafe.

This Bank Holiday Weekend we are open and running trains on Sunday and BH Monday.
Locos rostered will be, Sunday our usual Fowler and on BH Monday the BR 02 will be out.
Trains rides start at 11am, site open from 10:30 until 4:30. Cafe and model railways will be open too. Please come along to have a great weekend!

Today we are running the BR 02 after a short notice roster change - come over to visit us on this glorious day. We are running until 4pm.

Thanks to everyone who visited us on our Christmas trains and any other running days this year. Everyone at NIRT wishes you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.
We look forward to seeing you again in the spring.

The railway has had two pairs of new five bar wooden gates and posts stolen from the site over the last few days. If anyone has seen any suspicious activity around Hunsbury Hill country park and the NIRT or has been offered some lovely new gates please contact us asap. As a voluntary organisation this is a great financial loss for us.
