Step inside a world of luxury and craftsmanship as Gilt & Grandeur opens today at Abington Park Museum.

Before wallpaper, leather wall hangings brought colour, texture and prestige to the homes of the rich and famous. This stunning exhibition showcases exquisite gilded and embossed leather panels from the collection of John Waterer and Claude Spiers, founders of the Leathercraft Museum, spanning 500 years of history.

Featuring beautifully detailed images of birds, people and animals, this is a rare chance to see how leather shaped interiors long before modern decoration.

This fascinating exhibition showcases leather wall hangings collected by John Waterer and Claude Spiers, founders of the Leathercraft Museum, celebrating leather in both life and art. 🖍️ Urbansketchers Northampton

Join Urbansketchers Northampton, a friendly local group who’ve been sketching together outdoors since 2015 and became a recognised chapter of the international Urban Sketchers community in 2017.
They meet regularly to draw on location across Northampton and Northamptonshire—capturing places, buildings and everyday scenes through the art of direct observation.

✨ Everyone is welcome!

No experience needed—just bring something to draw with and something to draw on.
At the end of each session, sketchers come together for a shared “throwdown,” laying out all the artwork to view, enjoy and discuss. It’s a brilliant moment of creativity and community, and the results are photographed and shared online.

A huge thank you to all our amazing stallholders and to every one of the 2,729 visitors who joined us at the Vintage & Craft Fair at Abington Park Museum. What a wonderful day it was!

Your support, creativity, and enthusiasm made the event truly special, and it was fantastic to see the museum and park filled with so many people enjoying vintage treasures, handmade crafts, and a brilliant community atmosphere.
