It was fantastic to hear about Chris’s journey into writing and to listen to excerpts from his local mysteries. Chris thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone, sharing:

Marshmen played an important role in the traditional life of the Broads, working with the wetlands and waterways throughout the year.

Their work included cutting and harvesting reeds, catching eels, and caring for the marshes. It was hard, practical work that depended on the seasons, the weather and the water.

Our Marshman’s Cottage gives a glimpse into the homes and working lives of the people who helped shape and maintain the Broads we know today.

A wonderful afternoon of creativity at the Museum of the Broads! 🎨📚

We were delighted to host volunteers from across Norfolk for an experimental printing workshop, organized by the Heritage Network Norfolk and led by Creative Practitioner Donna Thompson.

Inspired by our museum collections, participants explored the fascinating history of printing in Norfolk before trying their hand at letterpress techniques, printing unique designs directly onto fabric.

A huge thank you to Donna for leading such an inspiring session, and to all the volunteers who joined us!

The Museum has a small shop on site, along with a basic food offer. This role oversees the smooth running of the retail/cafe operation at The Museum.

Many of us have fond memories of holidays on the Norfolk Broads – lazy days on the water, exploring the rivers and, of course, bringing home a souvenir or two!

🌟 VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: LESLEY! 🌟

Today we’re shining a light on Lesley—our resident Raffle Queen! 👑🎟️

Lesley joined the Museum of the Broads volunteer team back in April and has been an absolute star ever since. She has a brilliant talent for running a raffle, and thanks to her hard work, she’s successfully run three fantastic raffles across our events this season! 🎟️✨

Every ticket sold helps support the museum, and we couldn't do it without amazing people like her.

Calling all little explorers!

This October, come along to the museum and discover our Hidden Habitats & Curious Crafts trail.

There are challenges to complete as you explore — can you find the mysterious sound pods, and spot the hidden bugs, follow animal tracks and have a go at pond-hoopla?
Have a go at building your own mini bug hotel or create a mini beast to take home.
