🌍Happy National Creativity Day!✨

Today, we celebrate the power of imagination, innovation, and self-expression. Creativity is what turns ideas into reality, challenges into opportunities, and ordinary moments into something extraordinary.

Shop Contemporary have lots of creative kits, packs and products for little ones, teens and for us grown ups - because it's never too late to explore something new and get arty.

Whether you’re painting, designing, writing, building, problem-solving, or simply thinking differently — your creativity matters and can be a catalyst for change. 💡🎨🎶

Let’s continue to inspire, create, and make the world brighter together. 🌟

Missed the first announcement? Here’s your reminder 👇

The Whole Routine is coming to us for two live performances only — and your free ticket is now available to grab. 🎟️

This is not your usual theatre performance. Expect song, dance, repetition and improvisation woven together as a group of performers navigate control, collapse, and connection in real time. Nothing is fixed. Everything is in motion.

What makes it special is the unpredictability: trained and non-professional performers sharing the same space, where things slip, repeat, misfire — and somehow keep moving forward. Those moments of uncertainty become the heart of the piece. 🤝

If you’re curious about performance that feels alive, fragile, and a little bit unsteady in the best way, this is one to see.

🎟️ Free tickets are still available via the link below — bring a friend (or a few)

Do you remember what our galleries look like? 👀

Well, you won’t recognise them now!

🍊Orange walls have taken over, bold blue floor markings are being laid and head sculptures are appearing in every corner of the gallery. 🙌

Our install team are working incredibly hard, especially in this heat, to bring our summer season exhibitions to life. 🌞

Artworks are arriving, vans are being unpacked and the galleries are quickly becoming something entirely new.

There’s still plenty to do, but the atmosphere is already starting to take shape — bright, immersive, and full of unexpected details. 🥳

Join us for the launch of Augustas Serapinas: Physical Culture 🏋️‍♀️ and Chico da Silva: And the soul is for the birds 🦜 next Fri 5 Jun for our free exhibition launch party.

Celebrate with us, explore the galleries then dance the night away - tickets available via nottinghamcontemporary.org 🎟️

We can’t wait to welcome you into the finished exhibition soon 🧡💙

In the meantime be sure to pop by .contemporary and who are very much open as normal, you might even get a sneak peek through the gallery doors!

New Artist Collection ✨ Yukihiro Akama

BRAND NEW STOCK, EXCLUSIVELY FOR .contemporary

Originally from Japan, Yukihiro Akama began his creative career studying architecture before training alongside a carpenter building traditional timber-framed houses. Drawn to making with his hands and working with traditional tools, his practice combines architectural precision with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and storytelling.

Since moving to the UK in 2011, Yukihiro has been inspired by vernacular architecture from his travels across Asia alongside buildings discovered closer to home — transforming these influences into beautifully detailed miniature wooden structures.

Commissioned exclusively for .contemporary , we’re delighted to present a collection of 8 hand-carved wooden treehouses 🌿

🏡 Each piece is entirely unique
