👶 Wollaton Tots offers engaging, outdoor sessions designed especially for young children to explore, learn, and play in nature.
Set in the beautiful surroundings of Wollaton Hall & Deer Park’s secret walled garden, our sessions encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence through hands-on experiences!

📅 Tuesdays & Thursdays in October & November (excluding 12th November)
⏰ 10:30am - 12pm
❗ Children must be accompanied by an adult - 1 free adult per paid child ticket

On Thursday, we were delighted to host a CPD day at Nottingham Castle delivered by Historic England for History subject leaders from primary schools across Nottingham.

It was a brilliant opportunity to explore Nottingham’s history, share ideas and discover new ways to bring the past to life in the classroom. 🗺️📚

Thank you to Ismail for delivering such an engaging session and for a wonderful day of learning!

It’s beginning to feel like Autumn outside Access Artefacts in the Walled Garden! 🍂🎃

We have spent some time this morning getting a few of our taxidermy specimens ready to lend to our friends at St Anns Community Orchard!

St Ann’s Community Orchard is a fantastic local charity and for many years they have borrowed a selection of our smaller native wildlife specimens to share with their groups and bring nature and local wildlife to life. 🌳

This time, we’re getting their favourites ready to go - including a red squirrel, hedgehog, owl, bird of prey and its prey, mouse and garden birds. 🦉🐭 We love seeing our collections being used out in the community and helping people get up close to wildlife they might not otherwise have the opportunity to see.

It’s a brilliant example of how Access Artefacts can bring museum collections beyond our buildings and into the hands of local communities. 💚

✨ Behind the scenes in Access Artefacts! 🦅

We have been busy giving some of our taxidermy collection a little TLC, carefully cleaning and conserving our cases collection.

Janet, our longest-standing volunteer helped us - she has been giving her time, knowledge and enthusiasm to our handling collection for many years.

From the tools we use to the artefacts themselves, there is so much work that goes on behind the scenes to care for our collections.

History at your fingertips… including a little bit of taxidermy! 🪶✨
