Friends of Nottinghamshire Archives-FONA Membership of FONA provides opportunities to share the enjoyment of documents and archives through a range of activities and benefits:

1.

The Friends of Nottinghamshire Archives (FONA) was established in 2012 to promote the work of Nottinghamshire Archives in supporting, sustaining and preserving the rich documentary heritage of the county. Supporting the work of Nottinghamshire Archives in preserving the county's rich heritage.
2. Invitations to members' events, talks and visits.
3. Reserved places at talks organised by Nottinghams

4. Full colour newsletter sent out three times a year. Friends raise funds, through meetings and subscriptions, to help acquire material and equipment for the Archives office. Details of past FONA activities may be found in our newsletters.

Important announcement 📣

From 1st April opening hours at Nottinghamshire Archives will change as part of improvements to digitally transform the service in response to increasing demands for more digital and online resources.

Our new opening hours will be:

Monday – closed (no change)
Tuesday – 9am-5pm (change from 9am-7pm)
Wednesday – 9am-5pm (no change)
Thursday – 9am-5pm (no change)
Friday – closed (change from 9am-5pm)
Saturday – 9am-1pm every third Saturday of the month (change from every Saturday)

*NEW OPENING HOURS*
From 1st April, the archives' opening times will change to accommodate our expanding digital transformation project. Over the past decade, we have seen an increasing demand for digital and online access to the archives' collections and to our library's local studies collections. This change to opening hours will enable the digital transformation of resources and collections and the development of staff skills to embed the new digital approach.

New opening hours from 1st April are:

Monday – closed (no change)
Tuesday – 9am-5pm (change from 9am-7pm)
Wednesday – 9am-5pm (no change)
Thursday – 9am-5pm (no change)
Friday – closed (change from 9am-5pm)
Saturday – 9am-1pm every third Saturday of the month (change from every Saturday)

*We are sorry to say that the FONA event originally planned for Saturday January 17th 2026 has had to be CANCELLED*

Our next event will take place on Saturday March 21st at Nottinghamshire Archives at 11am when we will be holding our Annual General Meeting followed by a talk by Judith Mills “One Parish, Two Churches, Three Families” – some snapshots of 1,000 years of village history”.
