This is a super rare B3 jacket set. It’s named to Erwin J Carle of the 445th BG. 703rd Sq. based out of Tibenham. His B24 was hit by flak over Düsseldorf Germany and went down. He managed to bail out last however most of the crew didn’t think he made it. Only the pilot saw him and noted he broke his leg on impact. They were all sent to Stalag Luft III.

This is one of our new items.

This belonged to Lieutenant Commander F.G. Sheffield (the guy pictured in the middle).

He was a Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve (RNVR) pilot who flew Fairey Swordfish aircraft during World War II. He and his crew were based on the es**rt carrier HMS Vindex (which operated with 825 Naval Air Squadron) in the mid-1940s.

The Fairey Swordfish was a British biplane torpedo bomber used by the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm during World War II.

It’s half term next week, so come and see this and so many other items at Nuneaton’s highest rated attraction on Tripadvisor.

The museum is FREE to visit - although donations are always appreciated.

We are constantly adding items to our collection.

One of our favourite recent items is a WW2 Japanese flag. This was captured on the island of Iwo Jima by the US 5th Marine Division. It is signed by a number of the men ,together with some Royal Navy crew. We are already deep into the research finding out more about these brave men.
