is a charity that was set up to support the cornish fishery and local lobster population. Lobsters are nurtured from egg through their most vunerable stage of their life cycle and released back into the wild. The visitor centre is open every day of the year except Christmas Day.

From celebrating the extraordinary science behind these remarkable animals to sharing the conservation work helping give our native lobsters a future, it was a day to appreciate just how much there is to love about life beneath the waves.

A huge thank you to everyone who celebrated with us, supports our work and helped spread the lobster love – including our wonderful supporters and partners!

Here’s to protecting, pioneering and inspiring, one lobster at a time 🦞

Happy National Lobster Day! 🦞

Today is all about celebrating the remarkable European lobster – a species woven into our marine ecosystems, coastal communities and fishing heritage.

But to protect a species, we need to understand it.

Based in Padstow, Cornwall, The National Lobster Hatchery is a marine conservation, research and education charity dedicated to doing just that.

From raising and releasing juvenile lobsters, to research, working with closely with fishermen and sharing knowledge, our work puts science into action to help protect the future of this extraordinary species.

So today, we’re raising a claw to the lobsters – and to everyone helping us Protect, Pioneer and Inspire.
