🚐💙 Our Volunteer Drivers – The People Who Keep Us Moving

Following our Volunteer Awards, we wanted to shine a spotlight on one group of volunteers who quite literally help keep The VC Gallery moving – our amazing volunteer drivers.

Every week they give up their time to collect people who would otherwise struggle to attend activities, appointments, support groups, outings and community meals. For many of our members, that lift is much more than just transport – it’s a connection to friendship, support, creativity and community.

Whether it’s navigating country lanes, helping someone safely on and off the minibus, or making sure everyone gets home again with a smile, our drivers do it all with kindness, patience and good humour.

We simply couldn’t reach as many people without them.

To every volunteer driver, past and present, thank you for the miles you’ve travelled, the conversations you’ve shared, and the difference you’ve made to so many lives. 💙

Every year we celebrate the incredible contribution our volunteers make to The VC Gallery and the wider community. From serving meals and supporting activities to driving minibuses, gardening, peer support, fundraising and everything in between, every hour makes a difference.

The year before last , Susan Williams proudly received recognition for an amazing 800 volunteer hours, and last year she reached an incredible 1,000 hours! 👏💙

If you’ve volunteered with us, we’d love you to join us at our Volunteer Awards Celebration during Volunteers’ Week. Come along, collect your certificate, cheer on fellow volunteers, enjoy a delicious buffet and be entertained by the fantastic Rock Choir.

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we’re looking forward to celebrating the amazing people who give their time, skills and kindness to support others across our community.

What a fantastic evening! 💖

A huge thank you to the fabulous ladies from Boutique xx who organised a wonderful Rags2Riches event at The VC Gallery. The room was buzzing with laughter, bargains, friendship and community spirit, and together they raised a fantastic amount for The VC Gallery’s work in Pembrokeshire.

These amazing women are so much more than a fundraising group. They are a supportive, welcoming bunch who look out for one another, make new people feel at home and prove that friendship really does make a difference.

🏁 Soapbox Derby Season is Here! 🏁

After a fantastic first event in Carmarthen, we’re already looking ahead to our next race in Fishguard on Saturday 27th June!

These events are always packed with excitement, creativity, laughter and a healthy dose of friendly competition. Whether you’re racing, spectating or just cheering everyone on, there’s something for all ages to enjoy.

🏁💙 A Winning Day for Team VC at the Carmarthen Soap Box Derby! 💙🏁

What a fantastic day we had yesterday at the Carmarthen Soap Box Derby, organised by the brilliant Carmarthen Round Table .

There was plenty of excitement on the track as both of our teams took on the course. We’re delighted to report that Scorpion, our men’s team, raced their way to 1st place, while VC Mayhem, our women’s team, secured a fantastic 5th place finish! 🥇👏

Whether flying over jumps, navigating tight corners or occasionally testing the strength of the barriers, everyone gave it their all and had a brilliant time. The day was full of laughter, teamwork and community spirit.

A huge thank you goes to Dean, who spends countless hours designing, building, repairing and improving our carts year after year. His hard work and dedication make these events possible, and we’re incredibly lucky to have him on the team.

We’re also very grateful to Parfitt's Carpets & Interiors Ltd for sponsoring our carts this year. Your support helps us get involved in events like these while raising awareness of the work The VC Gallery does across Pembrokeshire.

Thank you to everyone who raced, pushed, cheered, supported and helped throughout the day. These events are a great opportunity for our veterans, volunteers and community members to come together, challenge themselves and have some fun.

A good day banked…Ka ching!

Some of the best moments in life don’t cost a thing. A laugh with friends, music playing in the background, people feeling relaxed enough to dance, create and just enjoy being together. That was the VC today!

Days like this remind us that wellbeing can sometimes look very simple… connection, creativity, kindness and a room full of happy people. 😊
