Mae Bernadette Siân yn artist o ogledd Cymru sydd wedi canolbwyntio’n bennaf ar symbolaeth benyweidd-dra, gan ddefnyddio llu o wahanol gyfryngau yn ei chelf gan gynnwys darlunio, cyfryngau digidol a serameg. Mae ei gwaith yn llinell amser esthetig i brofiadau sy’n newid, gyda’r silwetau nodedig o bob cyfnod yn crynhoi persbectif unigryw ar yr ysbryd a’r egni ar draws oes menyw.
Yn ddiweddar, mae gwaith Bernadette wedi ehangu i ailwerthuso ac archwilio’r Llwy Garu, gan greu ffurfiau cerfluniol a welir trwy lens traddodiad brodorol a symbolaeth gyfoes.
“Mae Llwy Garu yn esblygiad o’r gyfres exoskeleton. Mae’r lluniadau a’r ffurfiau cerfluniol hyn yn llinell amser esthetig o brofiadau cyfredol; synthesis o gyfeiriadau symbolaidd at gyfnodau personol o fewn mam/benyweidd-dra, wedi’u hadlewyrchu mewn natur a thraddodiad gwerin adnabyddadwy.
Rwy’n defnyddio fy arfer diwylliannol, un confensiynol rhwn partneriaid, ond yma llythyr cariad gweledol a chynnig i mi fy hun a menywod. Dathliad visceral o’r agweddau lluosog ar dwf a newidiadau yr ydym yn byw drwyddynt.”

Bernadette Siân is a north Wales based artist whose primary focus has been the symbolism of womanhood, using a multitude of different media in her art including illustration, digital media and ceramics. Her work is an aesthetic timeline to changing experiences, the distinctive silhouettes from each phase encapsulating a unique perspective on the spirit and energy across a woman’s lifetime.
Recently, Bernadette’s work has expanded to reevaluate and explore the Llwy Garu (Welsh love spoon), creating sculptural forms viewed both through the lens of vernacular tradition and contemporary symbolism.
"Llwy Garu is an evolution of the exoskeleton series. These drawings and sculptural forms aesthetically timeline current experiences; a synthesis of symbolic references to personal phases within mother/womanhood, mirrored in nature and recognisable folk tradition.
I am using my cultural custom, conventionally one between partners, but here a visual love letter and offering to myself and women. A visceral celebration of the multiple aspects of
growth and changes we live through."
