Makerspace Penryn Community Workshops and Artists Studios

Makerspace Penryn Community Workshops and Artists Studios An artist-maker space and facility for community workshops and events that ran between 2014 - 2017.

The physical workshop has long since passed but the dream is still alive! Makerspace Penryn Community Workshop and Artists Studios is a space for creative graduates and artist-makers in our community. Makerspace Penryn is working toward better community facilities for those wanting to learn and teach within the discipline of the Applied Arts and Contemporary Crafts. We are gradually working toward

s hosting creative educational courses and events that support the 'Tactile Arts'. Our primary focus is working with the hands, making as thinking and kinesthetic artist-learning styles. We are concerned with community cohesion and issues such as mental health and well being through making and creativity. As we grow the intention is to provide a hub and courses/workshops covering techniques working with clay, glass, metal, found objects and 'plastics'. We have seven resident artist-makers within six artists studio pods. There's a healthy balance of graduates, mostly from Falmouth University and/or self-employed artists supplementing their making practices and income with a wide range of other jobs and voluntary causes. Our space is generous enough to host creative workshops for up to 10 adults and/or children. Though we have sucessfully hosted talks and even a theatre performance with an audience of around 40 with a sound and lighting crew!
