Located in one of the city's most historic buildings, Peterborough Museum has a wealth of stories to fascinate and enthral all the family. Set in a historic building, you can learn its story: from private house, to hospital and museum, and see inside the original Victorian Operating Theatre to learn about the grisly history of surgery. The collections comprise over 200,000 items of great national

and international importance, and you can find out about the story of Peterborough from prehistory to the present. See which creatures swam in the seas over 150 million years ago, discover the Bronze Age, Roman and Saxon treasures of the city, learn the story of the first prisoner of war camp in the UK, right up to the changes seen over the 20th century in Peterborough.

Perkins 4.236 diesel engine, on display at Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery.

Its name comes from its configuration and size: four cylinders and 236 cubic inches of displacement. Millions were produced worldwide, many at Perkins’ historic Peterborough factory, and countless examples remain in daily use today thanks to their rugged construction and ease of maintenance.

Our final guest talk of Diesel Streets takes place this Friday; 6-8pm with the amazing Katie Scott

Tickets are free and available from the Peterbough Museum site under events.

We had a wonderful evening at this month’s Creative Lates!

We began with some sketching in our First People gallery before exploring the inspiring work of Rose Ferraby in our Gleanings exhibition and trying our hand at collaging. There was some fantastic creativity on display and, most importantly, everyone came away having had a brilliant time.

Missed this month? Don’t worry!

In June, we’ll be hosting Drag and Draw with the incredible Teddi The Drag Queen and
