🐠Are you joining us on the Barbican for Seafest?🦀
Why not take part in the Sea Monster Trail at Seafest?
Sea monsters have appeared in stories and legends from all around the world for hundreds of years. But did you know here on the Barbican, we have our very own?
You might know him as ‘the prawn’ but how much do you really know about him?

Follow our Seafest trail to discover the story of the prawn and learn about other legendary monsters said to lurk in the deep ocean.
Pick up your trail sheet from us here at the Tourist Information Centre, then explore the Barbican and visit local businesses to find posters featuring these mysterious creatures. Each poster has a letter for you to collect.

Gather the letters and unscramble them to find the prawns real name , bring back your completed trail to collect a little treat.

Did you correctly identify our latest Plymouth I-Spy challenge?
Congratulations to all participants who successfully spotted that this Plymouth Corporation Tramway sign is situated on Beaumont Road. Plymouth Corporation Tramways used various notices, metal plates, and painted destination or route signs across its network and vehicles. The first trams in Plymouth were steam and only ran from 1884 to 1885. Commencing in 1890 the company moved to horse cars and the system was purchased by Plymouth Corporation in 1892. The Corporation extended the horse system and electrified it in stages from 1899 to 1907.

⛵Are you ready for an adventure this August Bank Holiday Weekend?⛵
Step aboard the historic Tall Ship Morgenster for a unique 3-hour sailing experience from Plymouth. Leave the harbour behind and enjoy the beauty of Plymouth Sound National Marine Park under traditional sail. Help the crew set sail, steer the ship, or simply relax on deck while taking in spectacular coastal views. Whether you are a seasoned sailor or stepping aboard a tall ship for the very first time, this is a memorable adventure for all ages.
Departing at 14:00 from Thursday 27th through to Monday 31st
Boarding at the Barbican Landing Stage, Plymouth
Ticket prices: Adults £55; Children (under 15 years) £40 (please note that experience has shown that these day sailings are best suited for participants aged 12 and over). Comfortable clothing, a windproof jacket, and suitable footwear are strongly recommended. Places are limited, so book early and experience the magic of traditional sailing aboard the Tall Ship Morgenster.

Did you correctly identify our latest Plymouth I-Spy challenge?
Congratulations to all participants who successfully spotted that this is the parachute on the statue of the unknown airman on Plymouth Hoe. The Royal Air Force and Allied Air Forces Monument on Plymouth Hoe is erected in memoriam of the brave men and women who served in the Allied Air Forces during the period of 1939-45, both in the air and on the ground, including those of the British Army Air Corps, Fleet Air Arm and the Air Transport Auxiliary. The statue has an inscription on three tablets set into the front face of the plinth and two tablets set at the foot of the steps. The airman is in flying kit, gazing out to sea, holding his parachute in his right hand. Metal plaques with inscriptions are on the other three faces of the plinth.
