A vessel by the late Robin Welch (1936–2019) has just been added to his Online Ceramics collection. This pot was purchased directly from Robin at Art in Clay when the event was held at Hatfield, and we are delighted to have a photograph of Robin holding the very vessel now available to collectors.

This is the first time the vessel has been offered for sale on the open market.

Peter Ward, owner of Online Ceramics, said:

“I am really pleased to welcome Harriet to Online Ceramics. I first met her almost 10 years ago when she took part in Innovations in Ceramic Art at Cambridge Guildhall. I instantly loved her pots, and it is great to finally have her work on the website. Harriet is a fantastic addition to Online Ceramics.”

Two new folded-rimmed, soda-fired porcelain vessels by Jack Doherty Porcelain have just been added to the Online Ceramics ceramics collection.

The folded rims add an extra level of difficulty to throwing porcelain, making these particularly interesting examples of Jack’s work. The smaller vessel is priced at just £129, including free UK delivery.

At the weekend, added two small Balanced Bowls by Kate Windibank to her Online Ceramics collection. Although Kate calls them bowls, they could equally be described as small sculptural vessels, with their unusual forms and richly textured surfaces.

One sold almost immediately, leaving one of the two available. This piece has a striking volcanic glaze and is priced at £120, including free UK delivery.

New to Online Ceramics is ‘Soft Shrug’, a sculptural vessel by Ruth King.

Slab-built in stoneware and finished with a salt glaze, this is a wonderful example of the way Ruth takes the familiar language of bowls, bottles and vessels and pushes it into something altogether more sculptural. She cuts, alters, extends and distorts her forms, creating pieces that play with shape, volume and interior space.

Ruth King has been making ceramics for over 40 years and is one of Britain’s leading practitioners of salt-glazed pottery. She lives and works in York.

‘Soft Shrug’ is now available to view on Ruth’s Online Ceramics page, alongside other works by the artist.

New wood-fired pots by Richard Heeley

Online Ceramics has just added a selection of new wood-fired pots by Richard St John Heeley to his collection.

Richard makes wheel-thrown stoneware pots that are fired in a wood kiln, where the flames, ash and atmosphere of the firing help create their distinctive surfaces. This latest group includes pots with rich Shino glazes and subtle variations from the firing.
