We're showcasing what our wonderful Youth Forum have been working on recently for . ❤📣

Recently, the Youth Forum visited our Picturing Pontefract exhibition to give their feedback.

They particularly focused on accessibility. They discussed what factors need to be considered to design an inclusive and accessible exhibition.

The group tried sight loss simulation goggles to help them gain an understanding of different conditions and how these affect the visitor experience.

And because we're all big kids at heart, they of course got stuck in building structures with our magnetic tiles!

This week is

We have a fantastic team of volunteers who work across our Wakefield Museums and Castles sites; here at Pontefract Museum you might find our volunteers:

- Staffing the Reference Room drop-in (monthly, Wednesdays!)
- Supporting hands-on activities during big events like Pontefract Liquorice Festival
- Becoming our friendly museum elves for our Liquorice Santa event
- Reorganising the files in the Reference Room
- Helping behind-the-scenes and making crafts for our learning activities
- Delving into historical documents to assist with projects

Let's all say a big thank you to our volunteers - without them, things just wouldn't be the same. We appreciate everything that they do to help us care for our visitors, sites and collections 💚

Thanks to Pontefract in Bloom for keeping the entrance to the museum looking bloomin' lovely! 🌸💚

We’ve been busy replanting this morning - can’t wait to see how quickly the New Guinea Impatiens will grow, they’ve done well in this location before (with a little extra TLC from our friends in the Museum ☺️).

- Solve riddles and puzzles to learn about Ponte 🕵🏻‍♀️

Experience the beautiful art of our Picturing Pontefract exhibition and be inspired by the paintings to create your own jigsaw masterpiece!
