Connie had a great time back in the kitchen at the Poolewe Christmas Markets. Across the markets we raised £1566.80, from the cafes, tombola, jam sales and other fundraising. Thank you to everyone who supported us and a special thank you to all those who baked, helped in the kitchen, or on the tombola stall, we couldn't do it without you all. We're still adding to our 2025 fundraising and you can buy Connie's jam at the Button Bothy , Farm & Garden Store/Gairloch Farm Shop and Poolewe Village Store & Post Office to help us and the Highland Hospice Christmas cards and calendars are on sale at the Button Bothy along with other fundraising items including Jan Lawrie's fabulous creations. So don't delay and get those cards bought and in the post!

Please take a moment and vote for local lad Joshua. He has been working at Radio Wester Ross for a number of years now.

Joshua was born and grew up in the Highlands, attending Poolewe Primary and Gairloch High School. What you may not know, is that Joshua has also been presenting five shows a week as the drive time presenter on Now Radio for two years, helping to set up and establish a new community radio station and freelancing as a presenter on other Scottish stations for some time.

Earlier this year he entered the International Radio Star Competition, (think X Factor for Radio DJs). Joshua was the only Scottish entrant to get through to the final 20 contestants of this international competition. Since then, he has been leading the pack as they work their way through a series of recording challenges. As we approach the final week of the competition Joshua is still in first place, by just 10 points. He has done the Highlands and Scotland SO proud with everything he has achieved so far.....

However, this year the judges have decided to put the competition out to a public vote. Given that Josh is up against some already established national radio presenters, with a larger group of online followers, he could stand to lose out at the final hurdle, despite winning on judges' scores. This is really now just a competition about how many online votes the contestants get.

Please, please would you consider getting behind our local star and supporting him, by voting for him as International Radio Star 2025! Let's support Joshua to win this for Scotland.

Sorry we've been quiet on here, but time for a update on our Highland Hospice fundraising for 2025.
Our fundraising took on a different form this year, with Connie leaving the market kitchen and setting up her own stall alongside the stallholders at the Poolewe Tuesday Market . A change of scene but still the same purpose – raising funds for a very worthwhile Charity. So far this year we have raised just shy of £5500 and added to that we have sold over £2000 of Highland Hospice Christmas cards and calendars. The fundraising this year has mainly taken place on Connie’s stall where she sells her delicious jam alongside a range of bits and bobs including handmade items donated for us to sell from Jan and Anton from the Krockewe Arts & Crafts, lemon curd from Mary, marmalade from Joan and beautiful local apples from Pete. Thanks also to Mark Ison who has given us a donation from copies sold of his book Eighland. Thanks to Carol for her help on the stall along with all the stallholders for their support and generosity. Huge thanks to Stephen for making the bacon rolls for the stallholders again this year and donating the takings to the hospice. Thanks to Gloria Anderson Hairdressers and Maria from the The Flower Boutique, Highlands for their donations too.
So, a little break just now from the market, but those missing Connie’s jam can grab a jar from The Poolewe Village Stores or Farm & Garden Store/Gairloch Farm Shop – thank you to Clare, John, Gary and Wendy for generously selling it in aid of the hospice.
We’re now preparing for our festive fundraising and hope to finish strong with your support! The Poolewe Christmas Markets are almost here – Saturday 29th of November, Friday 5th and Saturday 6th of December. Connie’s looking forward to getting back in the kitchen and running the cafes at the Saturday Christmas markets in Poolewe so come along with an empty tummy! We are building up our treasure trove of prizes for our mega tombola to be run at all three Christmas markets. If you have anything to donate, we would love to hear from you! The Highland Hospice Christmas cards and calendars will be on sale at all three Christmas markets, along with other fundraising. The Button Bothy Christmas shop will continue to sell cards, calendars and other items in aid of the hospice right up until Christmas. So, there’s plenty of opportunity to support the fabulous work of the Highland Hospice. We really can’t do it with out our wonderful community – thank you all!

There are 3 Christmas markets this year. Saturday 29th November 11am-3pm, Friday 5th December 1pm-5pm and Saturday 6th December 11am-3pm. Come along and peruse a great selection of stalls, including of course the fabulous Highland Hospice stall with Christmas cards, calendars and more! Connie will be running her pop-up café at both of the Saturday markets with hot rolls, soup and lots of sweet treats! No café at the Friday market, but there are other exciting things a happening in Poolewe That day!!!
