We had a wonderful time at our Heritage Art Club session last Saturday, exploring the beautiful Rose and Japanese Gardens in Southsea. These tranquil, historic spaces came alive through a guided tour followed by an inspiring poetry workshop led by Han Newton from Pompey Poetry Party (thank you for a wonderful session!).

Participants created beautiful haikus and poems 🌹

Join us today at the Great Get Together event organised by Portsmouth community activities in the wonderful Milton Piece allotment! We will be there to deliver a mindful activity and to promote our Portsmouth100 exhibition (opening in October 2026). We hope to see you there! 🌳☀️🪻

This is our last market day! We are in Cosham market until 3.30 today. Come and enjoy the sun, look at some pictures of Charlotte Street market, and share your memories with us (many of the ones collected so far are about the Tricorn!). These will contribute to our future Portsmouth 100 exhibition "Your museum. Your stories. Your city" opening in October 2026. We hope to see you there !

We are pleased to announce all six of our museums have been awarded full accreditation from the UK Museum Accreditation Scheme, run by Arts Council England.

Every year thousands of people visit the city's museums, and accreditation shows that the collections people experience are of the very highest standards.

Five out of six of our museums are free to visit - Portsmouth Museum and Art Gallery, Southsea Castle, Portsmouth Natural History Museum, Charles Dickens' Birthplace Museum and Eastney Engine Houses, with The D-Day Story the only one with an entrance fee.

Our Portsmouth museums will be celebrating Portsmouth100, marking the centenary with a special exhibition 'Your Museum. Your Stories. Your City' at Portsmouth Museum and Art Gallery in October.
