Today’s visit from the Micro Car club.

As you can see from the video the Ansons car park was a little congested today!

But as most visitors knew who’s vehicle was who’s it didn’t create and problems!

Today the 30th of August 2026 the Anson had an organised visit from the Cheshire Micro car club.

The club was holding their 18th Micro Car rally at Sycamore Farm Caravan Site Soss Moss, Nether Alderley, Macclesfield.

One of the events they held was a visit to the Anson Engine museum.

Here is a compilation video of the micro cars arrival at the Anson taken between the hours of 1000 to 1045 hrs, sorry if I missed any of them arriving.

The Anson is open today and tomorrow and for those of you visiting today we have a visit from a car club this morning (Sunday)

It’s also a steam weekend as well as the infernal combustion engines.

We’re open 1000 to 1600 both days.

Engine offers!

How many people have been offered an engine?

The Anson recently received an offer to purchase at what is a good price for a 1962 Mirrlees KV16 cylinder engine, the slight snag is the engine is in Argentina!

The engine has been offered to other parties so if you fancy it you’d better be quick!

As there quite a few ex Mirrlees volunteers at the Anson myself being one and knowing what is involved stripping down the engine we’ve with great regret had to pass on the offer!!

Phew!

Although the original post mentions the Ansons closing weekend the Anson is still open on Fridays and the following Sundays.

August 30–31, 2026: Sunday and Monday Bank HolidaySeptember 20, 2026:
Special steam dayOctober 24–25, 2026: Saturday and Sunday closing weekend (10 AM–4 PM)

Val the Ansons Northern Ireland’s roving report recently attended an event at Harry Fergusons birthplace at Growell, near Dromore, in County Down, Ireland,

As well as plenty of Fergys there was a Standard Vanguard car that caught Val’s eye!

The resent post on the National Oil and Gas free piston engine has stirred Val in Northern Ireland to send me this video of a Junkers free piston engine.

Looks like an acquired art for starting it!
