For our Santa trains we have sold over 1/3rd of the compartments, with the 12th, 13th, 19th, and 20th are over 50% full and christmas eve only has 8 compartments left with space on 10am, 12pm, and 1330 left. So rush over to out website to book your spaces www.rhylminiaturerailway.co.uk

We spent today working on Johns boiler, first we took the chassis out of the workshop to give us space. We then turned the boiler on its side, we then worked on removing the smoke box off the boiler. With that removed we wete able to get a better attack on the steam pipes which we were then able to remove. It is now ready for us to start on removing the boiler tubes

A picture not oftern taken is off an empty platform, taken as Clara is off around the lake on a trip with passengers. You can enjoy a trip around the lake on the mile long trip today. We are open till 4pm with the last train about 3.45. Its £4 Adults and £3 children, we take cash or cards and there is no need to prebook for a trip.

A busy day working on John has seen us remove the boiler off the chassis and then remove the rest of the cladding and insulation. We have then removed all the bolts which hold on the smokebox ready to remove that next.

We have taken John into the workshop so we can start working on it to see what is needed to return it to traffic. Today ...

We have taken John into the workshop so we can start working on it to see what is needed to return it to traffic. Today we stripped it down and took off the cab, then all the controls on the backhead were taken off. We also had time to remove the first sheet of the cladding over the firebox. So will carry on next week to get the rest of cladding off and then the insulation to leave us with an exposed boiler.

Its another nice sunny October day and the trains are running today from 1030 till 4pm. Its £4 adults and £3 children and we take cash and cards with no prebooking on normal days, its just Santa trains you need to prebook your seats.

Santa trains are already begining to fill up with 30% of tickets sold with the weekends being most popular, but leading as always is Christmas eve with over 75% of compartments gone with only space on the 10.00, 12.00 and the 1330 trains left.
