Thank you all who visited the museum today for our 'Meet the Vehicles' event and it's been a popular event. The PIT STOP COFFEE SHOP sold out of some food and drink. The museum shop was also busy and plenty of people enjoying the museum and the vehicles.

Tomorrow is meet the vehicles at the museum where a few of the volunteers will be talking about a handful of vehicles.

If the event is successful, we would look at doing it again and talk about other vehicles. You're feedback and input is important to us and very much appreciated. If you have some spare time, please pick up a feedback form and let us know how we are doing.

We heard you and we responded...

With our next event it gives us the chance to see what we are getting right and what we need to improve on.

After receiving some public/visitor feedback, we decided to try one of the suggestions of having some of our volunteers speak about the vehicles.

Hence - 9th February 2025 from 10.30am till 4.00pm you are invited to 'Meet the Vehicles' at the museum. We have selected 4 vehicles for our volunteers to speak about. If this works, we will be doing it again.

Here we go again folks, with our next event and new for 2025, we are offering you the chance to 'Meet the Vehicles' and this is where our volunteers offer you the chance to hear about the vehicles.

We have a selection of vehicles in the museum and a small number of volunteers willing to tell you all about them. Maybe you have a question about a vehicle that we have in the museum, or maybe you have an interesting fact about one of our vehicles.

Our doors will be open from 10.30am till 4.00pm and there will be a break down of what is happening on the day when you come through the reception area.

See you on Sunday 9th February 2025 as we 'Meet the vehicles'.

Just a few images of Doncaster fleet number 188 yesterday as she looked lovely with the Sun out.

These buses are available for hire throughout the year and we've seen a lot of happy passengers and happy couples riding on these vehicles.

Simply fill in the form on our website under Heritage vehicle hire and our team are waiting to help with your enquiries.

Yesterday we asked you to identify what was left of a vehicle, or should we say what is in the process of being restored?

After reading through the comments it seems that we have some keen eyes and it is in fact a Scammell R8 that is owned by Tom Ding and is now at the museum. The lorry is ready to be restored and I'm sure Tom can tell us more about it...

We need you...

The museum is in need of some help this year and we are looking for more volunteers to help is in a few ways.

Have you got any mechanical knowledge and would like to get your hands dirty? We are looking for volunteers who would like to get involved in maintaining vehicles and restoration projects from a 1950s Double Decker bus to a 1974 MGB GT and others too.

Maybe you would like to volunteer as a fundraiser and throw yourself out of a plane... (NO!) me neither, but maybe you have other ideas of how to raise funds for the museum and we would like to hear what you have in mind.

We are creating some sponsorship packs and if you would like one then please do get in touch with Phil Morton at [email protected]

www.sytm.co.uk is the place to visit for more information about the museum and we would love to hear from you.

Some years ago, Fleet No: 216 Leyland Tiger PS1 (1947) may not have been much to look at or to admire, but now it is a fully restored single decker in the Sheffield livery.

The good news doesn't end there, as we are about to unveil the fully completed restored bus on Sunday 12th January 2025 at around 11.10am inside the museum. Still, the good news doesn't end there as we have a some special visitors coming down from ITV News crew and also Bus and Coach Preservation Weekly and maybe a visit from the Rotherham Advertiser.

This bus is certainly going to be the star of the show, with photos of the restoration and also the Daughter of the lady who used to be the 'Clippy' on the bus when in service.

We have had a great team of volunteers undertake the restoration and a lot of donations, blood, sweat and tears have gone into making this possible.

So please do come and show your appreciation on Sunday and take a step back in time.

Let's fill the museum with visitors and make sure that 216 gets the appreciation it needs.

Well, it's that time of year again where we are preparing for the year ahead. All our events are now listed on our website for 2025, and we have a few days out planned too which will be revealed early next year.

It's been a great year for the South Yorkshire Transport Museum and we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and for visiting the museum throughout 2024. Our Corporate Supporters have helped us along the way with financial donations and gifts to help us save costs at the museum, and the generosity of the public who have visited throughout the year.

To all our active volunteers we would like to say a massive thank you for all the help behind the scenes again throughout the year, and we wish each every one of you a Very Merry Christmas and all the best for 2025!

We will be back in January with our first Open Day and the launch of our 1947 Leyland Tiger Single deck Sheffield livery bus - Fleet no. 216 which has been carefully restored and is now road worthy.

Not seen us before? Come and see us in 2025 and spread the word that the museum has some exciting plans ahead!
