🩵 Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate the grand opening of Spiral Spot with us today!

Seeing so many families exploring, playing, and letting their imaginations run wild was the perfect way to kick off this special installation and end our 25th anniversary celebrations.

📣 Turn your sound 🆙 to hear exactly what our toughest critics, the under-5s themselves, thought of this new playable public artwork.

If you missed out today, don't worry! Spiral Spot is officially open right outside the art gallery and museum, waiting for your little ones to explore.

Thank you again to local artist Julia Snowdin who imagined and brought into reality this incredible pop of colour and creativity in Rugby town centre.

🪵If you’ve visited us recently, you might have noticed something wonderful happening at eye-level for our littlest visitors.

We are absolutely thrilled by the response to this spectacular series of hand-carved tactile panels by local artist Tom Jennings. Tom has taken key elements from the Rugby Collection and translated them into stunning, touchable wood carvings.

While the surrounding exhibition, UNVEILED: The Rugby Collection in Full, celebrates these historic artworks visually, Tom’s panels invite you to experience them with your hands.

This commission combined our commitments to making our exhibitions accessible and engaging for all audiences, providing opportunities to invest in the skills of our community of incredible local artists and craftspeople, and being conscious of our environment footprint utilising natural and renewable materials where possible.

With just two more weeks left until UNVEILED: The Rugby Collection in Full closes, May half-term is the perfect time to pop in!

Bring the family to explore the exhibition and experience Tom's wonderful tactile panels before the gallery closes to get ready for our summer exhibition on Saturday 30th May.

🎥 It was fantastic to have two Media Practice students from Birmingham City University with us earlier in the week.

Irene, who is currently in her second year, and Joel, who is in his first year, collaborated with our Senior Exhibitions and Programming Officer, Katie Boyce, and Senior Learning and Engagement Officer, Phoebe Hilton, to record a 360° video of our exhibition UNVEILED: The Rugby Collection in Full.

This initiative will archive this landmark exhibition and allow people near and far to explore our collection of 257 contemporary British artworks long after it closes next Saturday.

This project has built on the thriving partnership between the university and Rugby Art Gallery and Museum, as we work together to explore and test the use of immersive technologies to improve visitor experience and expand the reach of our exhibitions and collections.
