Carriage & Wagon workshop of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, to promote the work done by the staff & volunteers and hopefully encourage people to come and see the results for themselves.

Tuesday 20th October 2026
Phil continued working on IWR No.21 with myself and Dean working on 2403. Dan had been in over the weekend and early today to paint the panel which had blistered.
Thursday 22nd October 2026
Phil continued working on internal door panels for IWR No.21 with Peter working on the seat cushions. Simon and Nick worked on 4115.
Its planned to outshop 2403 on Saturday and bring in 2416 in its place.

Monday 12th October 2026
The painting of 2403 has been completed it is now being made ready to out shop over the pit tomorrow to work on the brake rigging. The internal door panels for IWR No. 21 are now under construction. Some work was carried out on 4115`s brake rigging.
Thursday 15th October 2026
Work was carried out on IWR No. 21 and 4115 and carriage cleaning has started on 2416 which is due to be be refurbished and painted.
2403 has been moved back into the workshop as it was discovered one of the panels had blistered hopefuly this will be remedied by Monday week.

Monday 5th October 2026
I made a visit today for a few hours ,hopefuly next week I will be back to two days a week.
2403 the North side has received its second final coat of varnish excepts for the gutter, Dan was on the South side today varnishing the second final coat. The step boards on 4115 were completed today and this resulted in Phil working again on IWR No.21.

Wednesday 30th September 2026
Only in for a few hours today ,Dan was painting the final coat of varnish on the south side of 2403 whilst others painted the bogies. 4115 Mark fitted brass treads to the lino and Brad continued with his work on the netting for the overhead luggage racks.

Tuesday 8th September 2026
Three worked on 2403 and I did some painting on 4115.
Thursday 10th September 2026
Yesterday the numbers and lettering were applied to 4115 on the south side. Today it was the turn of 2403 to receive number and letters on the north side, also 4115 started to have the No Smoking transfers applied to the inside of the windows in the passenger compartments.

Tuesday 1st September 2026
Phil continued on the north side step board of 4115 and Dean continued painting the edges of the doors on 2403.
Wednesday 2nd September 2026
Its a long time since I have been in on a Wednesday which means I am able to post some pictures of the other things that our happening on 4115. 2403 the compartments were given an initial clean and the stepboards were also cleaned for receiving creocote.

Four of us in today working on 2403 and 4115
Thursday 20th August 2026
4115 work continued on painting the underframe and the south side of the body. The step boards on the north side were shaped and made ready to be creocoted.
There was work also carried out on 2403 and IWR No. 21.
