Good morning, let me tell you a Sunday tale...

When I first moved to Mevagissey I didn't know anyone. As a creative maker I dreamed of selling my items in a local shop one day. Then I spotted a post - just like this one and I applied. Luckily know one else made items like mine and I joined the team.
What happened next surprised me!

I suddenly gained a whole creative family! I then decided to join as a shop seller with the team. As a busy mum of two with a normal day job too, I wasn't sure I could make it work. But I did! We have a rota and all take it in turns to man the shop, Thursdays work for me, but everyone is different and thats what makes it work!

I'm so so happy I took the leap and I going to tell you why and maybe inspire other Cornish makers to join us too!?

1. Your own space to sell your items, with the freedom to display as you wish!

2. Your space is on display to the public 24/7 (no early morning setups like at craft fairs)

3. A supportive team of other creatives who all look out for each other. (We love a 'BINGO' day when we all sell!)

4. Easy training (I had never done anything like it before!)

5. A yummy team Christmas meal and giggles together.

6. As a seller to the public, you get to hear first hand from lovely customers from all over the world! Maybe visiting Cornwall for the first time or maybe locals who live just around the corner. (Its helped me build my confidence and I love hearing customers tales)

So message us if you would like to find out more and join us, personally I can honestly say its been one of the best things I have done for my business, as its now seen every day in a beautiful harbour setting of Mevagissey x

It's a much cooler day here in Mevagissey today, phewww.
I think a visit to Meva wouldn't be complete without a walk around to the lighthouse on the outer pier. Facts for you:

It was constructed in 1896, after the Great Blizzard of 1891 destroyed the original outer harbour walls. It's 26ft tall in an octagonal design, made of cast-iron. It is believed to be the first lighthouse in the UK to be powered by electricity!

Of course our makers have been inspired by its iconic design and beautifully recreated it in there work, your'll find many red & white variations too.

The shop will be open from 10.30am-4.30pm today, with Vicky from Bear & Pickle manning the shop. Lastly the tide times are Low 10.38am, High 4.30pm x

Lots of you are on holiday at the moment, the local camp site here is heaving!! So let's talk about 'the trees'.

So for those who have just made the journey down, they are the 'NEARLY THERE TREES' and for us locals they are the 'WELCOME HOME TREES'.
Which ever they are to you, they are a special sight from the A30!

They were planted around 1900, there are approximately 140 beech trees remaining in the copse at Cookworthy Knapp. Once you see them, you can smile as you are now approx 1 hour away from Mevagissey.

Our sellers have recreated them in a variety of mediums, so you'll always remember. The shop is open all week from 10.30-4.30 x

It's a warm day in the south west today, it looks like the cloud will stick around for a while down here in Meva. Perfect for mooching around the harbour and enjoying a gentle breeze. The shop will be open today until 4.30pm

I HAVE GREAT NEWS!!!

I put in an order earlier in the week for sunshine and its arriving this weekend!!!

So if you are starting to make plans for what to do, can I suggest a visit down to Mevagissey maybe? The shop will be open all weekend from 10.30am - 4.30am.

On Sunday it's the Mevagissey Lifeboat Day! A day of family fun, games and entertainment around the harbour, while learning about Water Safety and celebrating 25 Years of RNLI Lifeguards. As well as visits from Falmouth and Fowey Lifeboats (subject to operational needs) there will be local choirs, a pop-up RNLI shop and games.

We are excited to see the Paddle Steamer Waverley will be visiting Mevagissey at around 12 noon (I'll post more about this tomorrow)

Lastly can I say a huge thank you for your online support, I took over the running of the Roberts Gallery Facebook a week ago and the amount of love has been amazing. Also our shop has seen an increased footfall, lets hope this continues- to keep our little shop thriving x

Good afternoon from a misty and calm Mevagissey harbour. I love days like today, when you can’t quite see the horizon line, everywhere is a little more muted in colour than normal and everything feels peaceful. I think it makes the shop feel cosier and more inviting too x

The lovely Rebecca from Smartyglass is running the shop today until 4.30pm and low tide is 4.00pm.

Happy Thursday guys x
